Oyo state Police Command said the four staff of the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, (OYSCATECH), Igbo-Ora and one other who were unfortunately abducted on Thursday 19th September, 2019 have been released by their abductors and reunited with their family relations.
The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, CP. Shina T. Olukolu psc, said their release was due largely to the concerted efforts jointly carried out by the Commissioner of Police and tactical Police teams of the Command, the Commissioner of Police F SARS, Ogun State Command SARS, AKS, Vigilante, Hunters, and other Quasi civilian security outfits in the surrounding communities as well as the Obas, Chiefs, and Youths of the Area.
In a statement released on Sunday, SP Fadeyi Olugbenga, Oyo PPRO, reiterated the Command’s resolve to continue to rejig our security architecture for maximum protection of lives and property of the good people of Oyo State while he sternly warns the criminal elements to relocate from Oyo State as the Police in Oyo Command is battle ready to crush any individuals or criminal gangs who is bent on disturbing the relative peace and tranquility being enjoyed by good the people of Oyo State.
The statement reads in part:
“It is to be noted that immediately the Commissioner of Police got wind of the incident, he immediately relocated his office to the area along with all the Police tactical teams comprising of Anti-kidnapping squad, AKS, Special Anti-Robbery squad, SARS, e.t.c. and immediately intensified efforts to quickly secure the release of the victims and eventual arrest of the hoodlums.
“This operation rescue personally co-ordinated by him consequently yielded results as their captors felt they can no longer have a safe haven to continue to hold on to them since the heat from the Police was becoming unbearable and this led to their release on Saturday 21st September, 2019 in the evening unhurt and they have since been reunited with their various family members.
The Commissioner of Police therefore wishes to use this medium to thank the IGP, the Governor of Oyo State, the Traditional leaders, leaders of thoughts, Political leaders, family members, and the school authorities and others for their patience and understanding while the unfortunate ordeal of the victims lasted. He also advised members of the public to be wary of these hoodlums in our midst who carry out this dastardly acts that is inimical to our safety and security and also threatening our corporate existence while transiting on the highways at anytime of the day. He equally seizes the opportunity to draw our attention to the possibility of increase in crime rate often associated with the festive season especially as the Yuletide season is fast approaching.
