Oyo State Police Commissioner CP Olushina Olukolu has inaugurated Operation Puff Adder in the state aimed at improving intelligence gathering, aggressive motorized, foot patrols and response to distress calls and reasonably eliminating, or reducing all criminal acts.
The event was held at the State Police Command Headquarter, Eleyele Ibadan also witnessed promotion of over 100 police officer in the state.
CP Olushina Olukolu in his address said the launching of Operation Puff Adder team is in line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, who insisted that all criminal elements should be flushed out of our society.
“The inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu has launched Operation Puff Adder with the aim of improving our intelligence gathering, aggressive motorized, foot patrols and response to distress calls and reasonably eliminating, or reducing all criminal acts in our society, and for effectiveness down the ladder, the Inspector General of Police directed that the operation be replicate in all the Zonal and State Police Command.”
SWN reports that CP Olukolu also noted that “In furtherance to this directive, the AIG Zone Eleven Osogbo comprising Ondo, Osun and Oyo AIG Adeleye Oyebade launched the outfit in Osogbo on 18 April, 2019.
“Today there appears to be an unwelcome high profile crimes such as Kidnapping, assassination, armed robbery,farmer and herdsmen clash, cattle rustling and others related crimes. These crimes are giving the Police Command a great concern, however in these trying times coupled with the insufficient logistics, the force is resilient in curbing these crimes and restoring peace and providing adequate protections for lives and properties of the good people of Oyo State in particular and Nigeria in general.” CP Olukolu expressed.
However, in another development, Oyo Police Command has promoted the total number of officers and men of Police force up to One hundred and fifteen to various ranks.
