Oyo State Command of Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) on Monday, sensitized the residents of the state on the need to embrace hygienic habits and observe precautionary measures in order not to contract the deadly Coronavirus, codenamed COVID-19.
The sensitization exercise which was led by the state Comnandant, Patriot Lukman Yekini Adelowo and other members of the State Executive Council toured numerous places , including markets and shopping malls.
The officers, who moved round the state capital of Ibadan, spent some hours at the State Secretariat, where sanitizers were given to motorists and passers-by.
Newspaper vendors, motorcyclists, customers on queues to access banking services, commuters and business centre operators were given sanitizers.
The Oyo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mrs. Funmi Orisadeyi , was among the passers-by given the sanitizers.
Pensioners and old people were not left out. They were enthusiastic to listen to the Commandant and receive hygienic consumables from the executive members of the command.
The command also spent some minutes at the Mobil area of the capital city, sharing precautionary materials and educating Nigerians on the need to stay safe.
Speaking on the dreaded pandemic, the state Commandant, Patriot Lukman Yekini Adelowo, emphasized that Coronavirus would not find its place where proper hygiene is observed.
Against this backdrop,the security chief urged Nigerians to wash their hands frequently with soap, avoid touching their face, maintain social distance and avoid self-medication.
The Commandant,who admonished members of the public to adhere to the World Health Organization (WHO)’s precautionary measures on COVID-19, urged them to get in touch with COVID-19 Taskforce in the state in case they notice symptoms of the dreaded virus.
