Oyo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has warned against the immoral directive of the outgoing government in the state, with an attempt to fleece LGAs and LCDAs treasury.
The party in a statement issued by its PRO, Akeem Olatunji, alleged that Governor Abiola Ajimobi had ordered the immediate backdate and swearing-in of supervisory councillors and secretaries by the council chairmen.
It would be recalled that the federal High Court had given an order to the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) from conducting elections into the 33LG and 35 LCDA areas pending the determination of substantive suit.
Whereas the election later held on Saturday, May12, 2018.
“Not long ago, the state government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftancy Matters had borrowed each of the councillors N100,000 for the Eid-l-fitr celebration in June, 2018. This was after they had jointly requested the state government to provide operational guidelines so as for them to know what their entitlements are.
“The government failed to conduct swearing-in of councillors, secretaries up till now because the poll which brought them in, was described as “stage managed fraud” by the good people of Oyo state.
“The directive of the outgoing government is quite wrong, morally bad, a sheer administrative incompetence, crime and tort of fraudulence.
“We hereby call on the stakeholders, meaningful and respected people in the state to caution this tort of fraudulence action of the outgoing government.
“As we look forward to the restoration of the lost glory of Ọ̀yọ́ state and better governance by our Governor-Elect, Engr. Seyi Makinde,” the statement reads.
