A Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), in Oyo State, Dr Kazeem Adesina Abidikugu has resigned his membership of the party.
Dr. Abidikugu, popularly known as KSO who is the founder of DAKA Foundation and Agbaakin Bobajiro of Ibadanland resigned from the PDP on Friday said his decision is as a result of persistent erosion of the core values upon which the PDP was founded.
Dr Abidikugu, a United Kingdom based Psychiatric Consultant said in his letter of resignation from the PDP, copies of which was made available to media on Friday stated that : “To all my family, friends, supporters, and patriotic well-wishers who have shared in this political journey, It is with a deep sense of responsibility and utmost conviction that I formally announce my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“This decision, though difficult, has become inevitable following the persistent erosion of the core values upon which our great party was founded.
“Over time, the glaring absence of internal democracy, transparency, and fairness particularly at the state and national levels has made it impossible for me to continue identifying with the party in good conscience.
“The events of recent weeks regarding the proposed elective National Convention have further exposed a painful reality: a disturbing lack of unity, focus, purpose, and collective responsibility among the current leadership.
“The cherished ideals of inclusiveness, justice, and accountability that once defined our collective vision have been replaced by greed, ego, and insincerity, which now dominate the decision-making process of the party at the state and national level.
“These developments have convinced me beyond doubt that the road ahead for PDP, under the prevailing circumstances leads only to complete, disintegration, and the total collapse of what was once the pride of Nigeria’s democracy. It is truly disheartening to watch a once promising political movement to descend into chaos and self-inflicted turmoil.
“This is not the PDP we built, nor the one we genuinely envisioned. I can no longer, in good conscience, remain part of this deviation from our founding principles.
“I have therefore chosen to resign from the party effective immediately. My friends, family, and well-wishers will be informed of my future political direction in due course. Let us unite and build a better future together”
