The new Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Nwachukwu Enwonwu, has heaped praise on Oyo State’s Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) for honouring him with a befitting reception to mark his birthday.
The new CP while thanking the Rev. Peter Omofoye led committee also lauded Chief Dotun Sanusi over his tremendous efforts geared towards development of his community as well as establishment of world class hospitality outfit in Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort at Akanran.
The state number one police officer who on Saturday afternoon, thronged Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, the venue of the birthday reception, with his wife, children and few of his aides charged the people of Oyo State to partner with the state police force with “a view to bringing armed bandits’ activities in the state to the barest minimum”
Mr. Enwonwu expressed his “shock at the size of the reception “considering the fact that i just got appointed as Oyo State’s Commissioner of police five days ago”.
He declared that police can not combat crime alone because according to him, police officers are not superhumans saying that effective policing requires everyone to support the police in terms of the provision of prompt intelligent information to the force authority.
“In order to render armed bandits completely useless, there has to be synergy between the police, the PCRC and the people in general.
“I want to assure our people that police in Oyo State would continue to do their best to serve and i want to state here that police service during my time would be the best that our people will ever witness.
“Let me state here that there would be nothing like police brutality, however, i am urging our people to be law abiding so that we can all be on the same page.
Commenting on the world class facility he saw at the venue of the reception, the CP commended Chief Dotun Sanusi for replicating the kinds of tourists facilities that are normally found in advance country of the world in Akanran, Ibadan.
“I am surprised of the facilities i saw here as soon as i entered the Resort. The environment here is the type that can only be found in advanced countries of the world.
“I am also thanking Chief Sanusi, for spending his hard earned money on the provision of basic amenities like electricity and good roads to the people of this local government. He is indeed someone who has the genuine love of his people, he concluded.
In his response, the Chairman of Oyo State PCRC, Rev. Peter Omofoye, welcomed the new CP to Oyo State pledging the continuous supports of his association to the police.
