The gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Oyo state Engr Seyi Makinde has described the neglect of the Oyo /Ogbomoso express Way as a sad example of a system that has failed.
In a statement issued by his campaign office and signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade, Makinde said that he personally experienced the anguish of commuters on this road three days ago when he saw motorists and villagers using axes and cutlasses to create routes through thick bushes for stuck vehicles to pass when normal routes became impassable.
The PDP gubernatorial candidate said that what is urgently needed was not the Town hall meeting held in the State key capital today to discuss the condition of the road because everybody knows what should be done.
Rather, government should simply show compassion as a result of the death toll that has kept increasing including the wiping out of an entire generation of the family of the Chairman of NURTW in Ogbomoso, Alhaji Gbadamosi last week.
According to him, the situation has reached boiling point and the ruling party must be tired of given excuses on one of the busiest inter states roads in Nigeria.
Engr Makinde also advised government to stop given lame excuses on the Ibadan -Iseyin and Oyo -Iseyin road.
