In what is anticipated to be an unprecedented gathering of political leaders and key influencers, the final funeral ceremony of late Mama Wulemotu Aweni Babalola, mother of Comrade Ademola Babalola, the Chairman of the Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), will bring together a constellation of Oyo State’s political luminaries.

Otunba Rotimi Ajanaku, the well-regarded socialite, businessman, and Chief Executive of Ajanaku Holdings, has predicted that the event will serve as a landmark moment for Oyo State.

Reflecting on the initial interment service, Ajanaku highlighted the overwhelming presence of notable figures from various political spheres, honoring the late matriarch even under the time constraints dictated by Islamic funeral rites.

“The sheer class and number of people who gathered on that solemn day was noteworthy,” said Ajanaku. “It’s a testament to the impact and legacy of both Mama Wulemotu and Comrade Ademola Babalola, whose work in journalism has touched and united so many in our state.”

Ajanaku praised Comrade Babalola’s unique public relations skills, which he believes have earned the NUJ Chairman the respect and admiration of politicians across party lines, religious beliefs, and ideologies.

Known for his adeptness in fostering unity, Babalola has strategically positioned himself as a key player in bridging divides, particularly through his initiatives such as the annual Press Week, where political representatives from all backgrounds are invited to engage directly with members of the media.

“Babalola has become a unifying figure, a rare hub of connection for our politicians, regardless of affiliations. He gives everyone an equal platform, a chance to speak, listen, and understand. His event on Sunday will be another opportunity for all to come together in a spirit of camaraderie, respect, and mutual ambition for Oyo’s future.”

As dignitaries gather to honor the late Mama Wulemotu and show support for Comrade Babalola, Ajanaku emphasized that this event presents a valuable platform for discourse on critical issues affecting Oyo state and Nigeria as a whole.

“This ceremony should not only be a day of honor but also one of introspection and collaboration. Let us take this moment to discuss the pressing issues of our time – economic challenges, security concerns, and the welfare of our people,” he stated.

Ajanaku urged political leaders, industry captains, and other dignitaries to work hand-in-hand to find sustainable solutions for the community’s most urgent needs. He called on those attending the funeral to consider how they might collectively bring immediate relief to people struggling in poverty across the state, noting that now, more than ever, collaboration among leaders is essential to improving the lives of the citizenry.

In his closing remarks, Ajanaku also made a heartfelt appeal to Comrade Babalola’s friends and colleagues to offer unwavering support. “This is a time to rally around our brother Ademola, to stand with him, and ensure that this farewell is not only memorable but a true reflection of the unity and strength of our state,” he urged.

As the final preparations are underway, the gathering on Sunday is poised to be an occasion marked by solemnity, unity, and, potentially, the seeds of new collaborations to shape the future of Oyo State.
