Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, has paraded a sixty-four-year-old man for allegedly raping his sixteen years old step daughter.
The suspect was paraded alongside six other suspected criminals arrested for child trafficking at the NSCDC headquarters, Agodi Ibadan.
Speaking with journalists, the sixteen-year-old rape victim said he first forced himself on her when she was seven years old. She said when it first happened, she reported it to her parents but they did not believe her.
The suspected rapist, John Umeh, who hails from Abia state, confessed to have been having canal knowledge of her for the past nine years. He said it was the devil’s handiwork but pleaded for leniency and promised to turn a new leaf if pardoned.
Other suspects were paraded for various offences.
Parading the suspects, NSCDC Commandant in Oyo state, Mr Augustine Padonu (MRM) said the command was committed to protecting the citizens of Oyo, especially children and women from all forms of violence and abuse.
He reiterated the command’s efforts to continually work tirelessly to combat heinous crimes and bring perpetrators to book.
The NSCDC boss called on members of the public not to relent in giving out useful information to collectively wage war against crime.
