The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has bestowed the Peace Keepers Award on the Executive Director of Commercial and Environmental Development, South West Development Commission, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle.
This was conferred on him at the International Peace day Celebration organised by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Oyo State Command.
The award was presented to him by the Seriki Shasha, Alhaji, Maiyasin Katsina on behalf of the State Commandant.
In his address at the well attended event, the Commandant in charge of Oyo State Command, Commandant Augustine Padonu commended the social impacts of Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, and other Awardees in promoting peace and stability in the country.
He maintained that their recognition as peace keepers is a call for further services in ensuring peace and tranquility in Nigeria.
According to Commandant Padonu, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has been in the fore front of maintaining peace, National Assets protection and stability in the country.
All the speakers at the event unanimously called for peaceful co- existence among the people in societies irrespective of their socioeconomic, tribal, religion or political differences.
Other Awardees at the event are the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Hon. Babatunde Sunday Ogunlade and Hon. Alawode Emmanuel. Others include Hon Lanre Olaosegba, Prince John Adeleke and Chief (Mrs) Francisca Padonu and
Hon. Dahunsi Adegbenro.
Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle who was represented by Dr Gafar Amoo on this occasion, is a prominent Nigerian politician and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State. Born over 60 years ago in Lanlate, Ibarapa East Local Government Area, Oyo State.
He attended Lagos State University (LASU), University of Ibadan (UI) and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) during his academic pursuit.
He has held various notable positions In Oyo State and in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Among which are:

i) Personal Assistant to Former Governor of Oyo State, Alh. Lam Onaolapo Adesina.
ii) Special Adviser on Political Matters to Former Governor Abiola Ajimobi in Oyo State
iii) Special Adviser on Parastarals to former Governor Abiola Ajimobi during his second term in office.
iv) Chairman, National Lottery Regulatory Commission under President Muhammadu Buhari.
v) Former Board Member, Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
vi) And recently appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Executive Director of Commercial and Environmental Development,
South West Development Commission (SWDC).
21st of September every year is set aside globally as ‘International Peace Day’ to mark the importance of peaceful co- existence in the Societies.
