The National Orientation Agency, NOA, Oyo state directorate has reawakened the consciousness of the citizens to patronise made in Nigeria products and services to boost the nation’s economy, Radio Nigeria reports.
At a sensitization programme held at the agency’s secretariat Ibadan, the state Director, NOA Mrs. Dolapo Dosunmu who believed a preference for foreign goods depicts a loss of identity and patriotism, said to achieve economic prosperity, there must be adequate patronage of locally made products.
Mrs. Dosunmu also stressed the need to improve the country’s foreign exchange earnings through promotion of small and medium scale enterprises.
In a goodwill message, Vice Chairman Manufacturer’s Association of Nigeria, MAN, Mr. Lanre Popoola said though MAN has partnered traditional rulers in the Southwest states to encourage youths to venture into production, as well encouraging parents to engage their children in vocational skills to complement their formal education.
Also speaking, Oyo state manager, Bank of Industry, BOI, Mr. Pacquels Irabor said the industry offers long term loans for entreprenuers with good business plan.
The awareness programme which had in attendance, participants from all walks of life featured exhibition of Nigerian made products.
