The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Oyo State chapter has stressed the need for Oyo State Government to rise to the challenge of paying minimum wage in the state.
Radio Nigeria reports that the chairman, NLC in the state, Mr Titilola Sodo, stated this after a closed door meeting with the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde .
Speaking with newsmen, the NLC chairman said the visit became imperative as deadline for the negotiation of the minimum wage to resume has been issued.
Mr Sodo while applauding the government on the prompt payment of salaries and pension, urged governor Makinde to as matter of urgency look into the issue of minimum wage, status of directors in the state and promotion arreas.
The NLC equally lauded the review of appointment of workers whose employments were terminated by the immediate past administration.
Mr Sodo pointed out the appointment of many were cut without due process.
