The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Oyo State Chapter, on Thursday, inaugurated new members of executive with Tpl. Eweoya Olusegun Ayedogbon, Mnitp as the Chairman.
The history of NITP started as far back as 1983 under the leadership of Prof. Poju Onibokun who was the first chairman of the institute.
While giving his inauguration speech, Tpl. Eweoya Olusegun Ayedogbon Mnitp, the 17th chairman defined his inauguration as another symbolic day in the Pace setters state Chapter as he is set to give all his power to ensure the betterment of the institute.
“With deep sense of responsibility and humility as I am standing before this gathering to accept the mandate and assignment attached to the office of Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) Chaiman, Oyo State. This is a daunting task but l am rest assured that all members of the institute will give me support as the Chief Servant of the institute.
“The last two administrations of my predecessors under whom I served, have done credibility well to move the Institute forward to the present point. Hence we can’t afford, but to continue pressing forward despite all challenges. I also acknowledged all past administrations since inception of the Oyo State Chapter of NITP in 1983. On the Solid foundation you have laid.
“I promised to build on to make Oyo State Chapter of NITP “nulli secondus”. Deep down within me, l’m assured that if we have one goal, one voice, and we all work towards progress and development of this profession and the institute in particular. We shall raise the flag of our chapter without any doubt as the pace-setter chapter.”
Among the inaugurated executive members of the state NITP at the occasion were the Vice Chairman, Tpl Adesope Peter Olufunso; Tpl Mayowa Abiala, General Secretary; Tpl Oluwaseyi Aremu, Assistant General Secretary; Tpl Olagunju Deborah, Treasurer; Tpl Adesokan Samuel Adelodun, Public Relations Secretary and Tpl Bolaji Akeem Isola, Assistant Public Relations Secretary.
Other installed executive members were Tpl Sherifat Alolade Olaniyi, Auditor; Tpl Adediji Alaba, Financial Secretary; Tpl Rasaq Adewale, Assistant Financial Secretary; the immediate past Oyo State NITP chairman, Tpl Kamoru Olajide Adeyemo, ex- Officio 1 and Tpl Rotimi Olaniran as ex- Officio 11.
In his opening remarks, the Oyo State Housing Corporation Chairman and also the chairman at the occasion, Chief Bayo Lawal, charged town planners to ensure all estate developers key into the vision of the Makinde-led administration for the development of the state.
Lawal said: “there is no coordination between developers and the state town planning association.”
The guest speaker at the event, Hon. Oyetunji Peter Olusegun said because physical planning guides orderly development, ‘power’ must be used in the planning process for effective enforcement.
Recipients of awards at the occasion were the pioneer national secretary of the association, Chief Goke Adediran; Senior Chief Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin; Mrs Eniola Olayinka Agbola; Mrs Taiwo Olurin; Professor Timothy Olayiwola Egunjobi; the General Manager, Oyo Housing Corporation, Jire Adekunle, among other awardees.
