The Muslim Community of Oyo State has expressed its deepest condolences to Governor Seyi Makinde over the passing of his elder brother, Engineer Sunday Makinde.
The community received the news of Engineer Makinde’s demise on Friday, January 24, 2025, with “rude shock.”
In a statement signed by Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni, Chairman of the Muslim Community of Oyo State, and Alhaji Murisiku Abidemi Siyanbade, Secretary General, the community urged Governor Makinde to take solace in the fact that “we all came from God Almighty, and unto Him is our return, at the appointed time.”
The Muslim Community prayed for God to console Governor Makinde, his siblings, Engineer Makinde’s wife, children, and the entire Makinde family.
The statement read: “It was with rude shock that we received, on Friday, 24th January, 2025, the sad news of the death of Engr. Sunday Makinde, the elder brother of our Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde.
“The loss of a loved one, a sibling, could be devastating. We urge His Excellency to take solace in the fact that, we all came from God Almighty, and unto Him is our return, at the appointed time. It was his time to return to his Maker.
“May God console the Governor, the deceased’s other siblings, his wife, his children and the entire Makinde dynasty.
“Your Excellency, in this moment of grief, please note that our hearts are with you and we are with you in prayers. Once again, may God Almighty hold you and the entire family.”
