Honourable Akeem Mustapha, lawmaker representing Kajola state constituency at the Oyo state House of Assembly, on Wednesday, commissioned 10 motorised boreholes, 2 public toilets and donated a 18-seater bus to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Kajola local government area.
The lawmaker also empowered not less than 260 constituents with the distribution of grinding machines, tailoring machines, refrigerators, hair dryers, generating sets, bricklaying tools, clippers, sprayers, gas cookers and others.
The empowerment program which was held at Okeho also had distribution of the rabbits to some beneficiaries having completed their trainings in rabbits farming sponsored by the lawmaker.
He also did a foundation laying ceremony for the construction of ICT center which he promised to complete soon.
While speaking, Mustapha said the empowerment programme is one of the ways he’s giving back to the constituents who elected him.
He said he will continue to give his best and ensure that the good people of Kajola state constituency continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Mustapha who’s the Chairman, House committee on Public Account and Appropriation said the empowerment is a way of complementing the good work of the Governor Seyi Makinde.
He commended the Governor for being with the people with his policies, programmes and projects especially in the Oke Ogun area of the state.
His words: “The functions of a parliamentarian in this democracy are the legislative duties in the parliament, oversight functions and people have included constituency projects.
“What happened today is one of my duties to those that elected me in the House of Assembly by giving them back. And that’s the essence of empowerment, constituency projects.
“This is not the end, I will continue to give my best and ensure my people continue to get the dividends of democracy.”
Also speaking, the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo state, Elder Dayo Ogungbenro commended the lawmaker for giving back to the electorates.
He said all lawmakers should return to their constituents by giving them the dividends of democracy. He said that will show electorates that they have represented them very well.
While wishing the lawmaker well in his political journey, he said he’s one of the politicians people are looking at to replace the present leaders when time comes.
