The lawmaker representing Kajola State Constituency in the Oyo State of Assembly, Hon. Mustapha Akeem Olawale has applauded Governor Seyi Makinde on the priority given to workers’ welfare, describing it as absolute commitment to electoral promises.
Speaking with insideoyo.com recently in Ibadan, Mustapha rated the eight weeks Seyi Makinde-led administration high, attributing his achievement in payment of salaries, pension, gratuities and recent public declaration of asset to the Governor’s sincerity to himself, God and the people of Oyo State.
He said, “The people of Oyo state went through hardship and pains. During the electoral polls despite all intimidations they stood with us in PDP.
“I am not surprise with what Engineer Seyi Makinde is doing. Our Governor understands that workers’ salary is not a privilege, they work for it and they deserve their pay,” he added.
While reaffirming his passion to give his constituency a robust representation, Mustapha described the Oyo State 9th Assembly as an intellectual gathering ready to transform the state for the sake of history.
He said, “You need to observe the way we took off as the 9th assembly led by the Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, we are doing the unusual and this is not to impress anyone but to make sure the good people of Oyo State do not regret their decision to stand out in 2019 among other Southwest States.
“They are saying we are rubber stamp lawmakers, and I ask them, are we suppose to be opposing good programs and policies which are created by the executive to benefit the people, just because we do not want to be rubber stamp?
“What does lawmaking and policies formation have to do with fighting and creating crisis with the executive arm? We have a listening and open Governor, and that is why we are cordial.”
Speaking on the issue of insecurity facing the country, Mustapha assured that the fear and panicking will soon disappear, saying the government and the security agencies in the state are moving fast to arrest the situation.
“For two weeks now, the assembly has being on tour to security agencies in the State having series of strategic discussions on how we can assist them in tackling insecurity in the State.
“However, the issue of security is not just the responsibility of the government and security agencies alone, it is for everyone.
“When we notice new faces in our area let us call the attention of the security agencies. The Police, or Civil defence officers are not angels but human being like us.
“We have to be watchful and disseminate correct information about people we suspect, and call on appropriate authorities to do their job. With that security agencies too will be encouraged to work,” he added.
