The lawmaker representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju state constituency, Hon. (Surv) Bamidele Adeola has applauded Governor Seyi Makinde over the re-awarded construction of Moniya-Iseyin road to a more competent contractor.
Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde re-awarded the 65kilometers road to a new contractor, a month after the contract was revoked from the previous construction company that got the job from the immediate past administration.
In a Statement released to newsmen on Friday, Hon. Adeola Bamidele noted that the people of Iseyin/Itewaju local government and entire sons and daughters of Oke- Ogun zone of the State are happy that the Governor listened to their cry and acted swiftly to ease their pains.
According to him, the road when completed will improve the economy and food security in the state as it will address the challenges of moving farm produce around Oyo State.
He said, “As a lawmaker representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju, I have raised Moniya-Iseyin and Oyo-Iseyin road as either a motion or matter of urgent importance on the floor of the house because I can feel the suffering and difficulties our people are going through.
“We are happy with the way our amiable Governor has addressed the road issue, even to the point of increasing the cost to accommodate enough drainages, increase the stubbing course from about 150mm to about 200mm, and we also changed the asphaltic wearing course from 40mm to 50mm.
“We are grateful to the current transparency in Oyo State government, and the courage the Governor displayed to have revoked the contract from the previous contractor on the ground of inconsistencies and underperformance, despite knowing the company’s owner in person.
“It shows Engineer Seyi Makinde truly has zero tolerance to corruption or favoritism. He has really come to serve the people of Oyo State.”
Adeola thus charged the new contractor- Kopek to deliver the project in 12months as stipulated in his contract agreement to justify the trust invested in its capability by the people of Oyo State and the State government too.
“I appreciate my constituents, commuters and residents of Oke-Ogun zone for their patience and trust in the PDP led government of Oyo State. It is obvious to all now, that we mean business and the glory of the pacesetter state shall be restored.
“I also appreciate my colleagues, and the Speaker, Oyo State house of Assembly for joining in constant agitation and always giving me every support. Governance is a collective business and we will not get tired,” he added.
