The lawmaker representing Kajola state constituency in Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Akeem Mustapha has lost his father, Alhaji Mustapha Ganiyu Akano.
He died on Tuesday night at the age of 79. He has been buried on Wednesday according to Islamic rites.
Alhaji Mustapha Ganiyu Akano was a teacher before he resigned to contest for councillor in 1976 under zero party. He was later appointed as member of caretaker committee.
Until his demise, he was an Islamic cleric and the Khalifa (Head) of Mustapha Ganiyu dynasty.
Final prayer holds tomorrow in honour of the departed soul.
Meanwhile, following his demise, Honourable Akeem Mustapha has been installed as the Khalifa (Head) of Mustapha Ganiyu dynasty.
The lawmaker, who is the Chairman House Committee on Public Finance and Appropriation, was turbaned in a short ceremony.
While speaking, Mustapha promised to uphold the tenets of dynasty and be a good ambassador.
He promised to govern the people in accordance to Islamic injunctions and the foundation built by his late father.
He prayed Allah grant him Al Jannah Firdaus and be with the family and group he left behind.
He said: “Let me first of all thank Allah on behalf of my late the life well spent. I pray Allah grant him Al Jannah Firdaus and give us the fortitude to bear the irreparable lost.
“I want to thank everyone for deeming me fit to take up the leadership mantle of this dynasty. I promise to govern in accordance with Islamic injunctions and the foundation built by our father.”
