Oyo State Government has urged residents of the Ogunkanmi communities in Akinyele Local Government and Iware in Afijio Local Government to remain calm over lingering boundary dispute.
Surveyor General of Oyo State, Alaba Sekore who made this call during a meeting with relevant stakeholders of the communities, held at Akinyele Local Government Conference Room, Ibadan, harped on the need for the raging communities to embrace peace.
According to Nigerian Tribune, Sekore assured that the state government was looking into complaints of the different parties and was poised to provide a lasting solution to the dispute.
Stressing that security and peace was a key pillar of the Governor Seyi Makinde administration, Sekore said the current government would not tolerate anyone or group of persons intent on disrupting the tranquility in the state.
Responding, leaders of the two communities, Mr Akin Adesina and Mr Bamigbade Muyiwa praised the state government’s efforts in the settlement of boundary dispute across the state.
