Oyo State Government says it will deploy more security strategies to secure the state in the new year.
The state Governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, made this known on Sunday at a church service, marking the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance held at St Peters Cathedral Church, Aremo in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
Makinde, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun, said that the state government would continue to improve the security of lives and property in the state.
He said that there was an improvement security-wise across the state.
According to him, the cooperation among all the security agencies in the state and the establishment of “Amotekun” to complement the conventional security agencies has helped.
“Going forward, we expect that it will continue at this pace and even get better. There are additional security strategies that are going to be deployed this year.
“We will get additional Mobile Police Squadron in Oyo Town and the different security outfits will continue to work together to ensure the state remains safe and secure,” the governor said.
Makinde reiterated the commitment of his administration to ensure that the welfare of the dependants of the fallen heroes were prioritised.
“As a state, we will continue to care for the families of the fallen heroes and ensure that their welfare is guaranteed.
“For all of us who live in Oyo State, I think we should all ensure that we always support children, widows and families of our fallen heroes,” the governor said.
In his sermon, the Provost of the Cathedral, Revd. Wale Adebiyi, appreciated all those in charge of the state security architecture for improving security in the state.
Adeniyi commended the state government for allowing peace to reign in all nooks and crannies of the state.
He urged the people to come to the aid of the families of the fallen heroes, so that their efforts would not be in vain.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Alhaja Kafilat Olayiwola, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, other top government functionaries and Heads of Security Agencies in the state attended the church service.(NAN)
