Oyo state government has promised to ensure smooth running of academic activities in all state-owned tertiary institution.
The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Daud Shangodoyin stated this on Thursday when the leadership of the NANS, Oyo State led by its Chairman, Comr. Asubiojo Olujuwon (Marshal), Students’ Union Presidents and NANS executives across tertiary institutions in the state
In a response to the Students Union body, the government promised to set into motion plans to make sure the problems associated with institutions in the state are resolved within the shortest time possible.
“He announced the Joint Committee of Stakeholders to be formed in all state-owned institutions, this committee will include student’s representatives who he noted are the major stakeholders. He also advocated for a monthly meeting with National Association of Nigerian Students, Oyo State where both parties would measure progress made by the government with the new initiatives in place.
“Prof. Shangodoyin while addressing the accreditation of courses in Ibarapa Polytechnic assured affected students that efforts are in top gear to ensure quick accreditation of courses awaiting attention.
The commissioner emphasized the commitment of Governor Seyi Makinde to the education sector, welfare of students and workers and promised that the administration will maintain an open-door policy.
He tasked NANS, Oyo State not to hesitate to bring cases of maladministration, intimidation and victimization of students by heads of institutions to his table for prompt action.
