In its move to generate more revenues, the Oyo state government in partnership with Exodus Professionals on Thursday, launched the Gaseous Emission Control Scheme of 2022 Year of Operation in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
The Gaseous Emission Control Scheme of entails consolidated, operation emission, driver and conductor, gaseous emissions, waste basket clearance, road taxes, conjedum, M.O.T.F.O.T, Unified/Addendum, Road users, stage carriage, 3 in One, driver’s road guide and Mid year parks and garages permits.
While speaking, the Commissioner for Environment, Mr Abiodun Oni said the state government will not allow the use of other states Gaseous Emission Permission for vehicles that are being used in the state henceforth adding that the state government will work together with Mobile Advert Business Association in the state.
Oni who was represented by the Director of Pollution at the Ministry, Mrs Modupe Olaleye said there will be enforcement with the coming together of Board on Internal Revenue, Ministry of Environment and others relevant stakeholders.
While promising to reduce complaints and fight, she added that the problems the program encountered the other time that led to its stoppage have been addressed and improvement has been made.
She sought for cooperation of the association and promised to be just in the determination of prices.
“We have always been carrying you along. We are to work together for this success of this program. And I want to assure you that we are going to work together.
“Also, you must patronise Gaseous Emission of Oyo state, because you are residing in this state, you benefit from this state so you must cooperate and work together with us for the success of the state generally. We won’t allow the patronage of other states Gaseous emission because there will be sanctions.
“This time around there’s going to be enforcement. And I’m happy that the Board of Internal Revenue, the ITC, the Ministry of Environment are working together and I’m sure when we cooperate with each other, there won’t be lapses.
“For the problems that happened the other time, we learn everyday and we are bound to improve on our mistakes, by the grace of God, this time around we will try as much as possible to reduce all these fight, complaints that came up the last time. Above all, we need your cooperation.”
Also speaking, the Acting Chairman, Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue, Alhaji Mudasir Azeez said the state government is set for 2022 as regards gaseous emission and others.
Alhaji Mudasir Azeez who was represented by Davis Olasunbo Oyeteju said any resident vehicles will not be allowed to use neighboring state papers.
He sought for cooperation of the Mobile Advert Business Association in the state.
