In a heartwarming gesture, the First Lady of Oyo State, Engineer Tamunominini Makinde paid a visit to hospitals in Oyo Town on Christmas Day to celebrate the first three Christmas babies born on this special day, which also marks the birthday of her husband, Governor Seyi Makinde.
The visit, which took place early on Christmas morning, saw the First Lady spreading joy and cheer to the new mothers and their babies, who were among the first to welcome the festive season.
The first baby, a baby girl, was delivered at 1:16 a.m. at the General Hospital, Oyo, while the second and third babies, both boys, were born at 4:00 a.m. at Aafin Primary Healthcare Centre and at 5:40 a.m. at Iseke Primary Healthcare Centre respectively.
During her visit, the First Lady expressed her love and solidarity with the families, saying, “I am thrilled to be here today to celebrate the arrival of these precious babies, who are a true blessing to their families.
“It’s a special coincidence that their birthdays fall on the same day as my husband’s, making it an extra special Christmas for us.”
Each new mother received a hamper of baby essentials, a bag of rice, and a cash gift from the First Lady, who also took the opportunity to congratulate them on the safe delivery of their babies.
“I encourage you to ensure routine immunisation for the healthy growth and wellbeing of your children,” she advised.
The First Lady’s visit was met with gratitude and appreciation from the families, who were touched by her thoughtfulness and kindness.
“We are so grateful for her visit and the gifts she brought. It’s a wonderful way to start the new year,” said one of the mothers.
The visit is a reflection of the First Lady’s commitment to supporting and empowering families in Oyo State, and her dedication to spreading joy and cheer, especially during the festive season.
As she concluded her visit, the First Lady wished the families a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
