The Wife of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde, has officially declared the 2024 BCOS Father Christmas Show open, emphasizing the true spirit of Christmas as a season of love, joy, and giving.
Held annually to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the event promotes values of compassion, generosity, and kindness.
While speaking, Mrs Makinde reminded children that Christmas is not just about receiving gifts, but also about sharing with others.
She encouraged them to spread love and kindness, even through small gestures like a smile or kind words.
Acknowledging the economic challenges faced by parents, Mrs Makinde prayed for God’s provision and blessings upon them. She recognized their efforts in making their children happy despite difficulties.
The show will run until December 24th, offering numerous gifts to attendees. As a special gesture, Mrs Makinde presented beautiful gifts to the first 100 children present.
She commended the BCOS team, the management, and the 2024 Father Christmas Committee, for their dedication to creating a memorable experience for children.
Her words: “I am delighted to be here with you all today at the opening of the 2024 BCOS Father Christmas show. Christmas, as we all know, is celebrated every 25th of December to remember the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Christmas season is a season of spreading love and joy. It is also a time to help each other, and to share the blessings God has given us.
“Children, let me remind you that celebrating Christmas is more than receiving gifts and putting up decorations; it is also about giving and sharing with others. You may share your gifts with your friends that do not have. What you give may not be something that can be seen or touched, it could be as little as saying something nice to another person or even smiling at them. This Christmas season, let us remember those who do not have, so that we can extend a helping hand to them.
“To all the parents who have come here today to make their children happy, despite the challenging economic situation of the country, I pray that may God continue to provide for you to take care of these little ones and may you reap the fruits of your labour over them.
“From now till the 24th of December, the BCOS Father Christmas Show will be open with lots of gifts. However, I have come with beautiful gifts for the first one hundred (100) children today.
“I would like to commend the BCOS team, starting from the Chairperson, Chief Mrs Dotun Oyelade, the entire management and the 2024 Father Christmas Committee, for your efforts in putting together this opening ceremony and making it a memorable one for the children.
“As I declare the 2024 BCOS Father Christmas Show open, let us all celebrate this season with the values of love, compassion, and generosity that Christmas represents. Thank you all and I wish you a Merry Christmas in advance.”
