The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has revealed that lawmakers are working on laws that will tackle activities of killer herdsmen in the State.
Speaking during a brief visit to the palace of the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola, as part of his thank you visit to his Ibarapa East constituency, Ogundoyin noted that the house is aware and investigating cases of kidnapping within Oyo State and particularly in Ibarapa zone.
He said, ““When our lives are not safe, our movement will be restricted, our businesses will be affected and the means of livelihood of our people will be at stake.
“We are working on the State laws and in a matter of weeks, our resolutions will be out, because we cannot afford to toy with security issues.”
Addressing with newsmen on Sunday at his thanksgiving ceremony in his hometown, Eruwa, the 32 year old Ogundoyin noted that he represents three constituencies as a lawmaker.
He said, “Personally, I always say I represent the people of Ibarapa East that elected me, also the great people of Oyo State as the Speaker of the house and the Nigerian youths.
“These are my three constituencies. As the speaker and my other young colleagues in the house recognize them and we will not disappoint them.
“We are young lawmakers, youthful, intelligent and diligent. We have make life before politics in our various chosen careers, and with God by our side, we will make make Oyo State proud.”
While sharing his testimonies, Ogundoyin appreciates the support of the people of Ibarapa East for his electoral victory.
“This is a sobering moment for me, sweet mother who has always being there for me and my family.
“I lost my Dad 28 years ago, and God blessed us by making me a servant to both Ibarapa East and Oyo State,” he added
In his words, the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Engr. Raufu Olaniyan call for peace for within the State.
He noted that nothing can be achieved if the people so not cooperate with the government.
“We have both common and peculiar challenges as a State, but all we can say is that we will overcome all when the people support this administration.
“We meant well and we will do well,” he added.
The Royal Father of the day, the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola in his advice, admonished the lawmakers to adjust and review every outdated and irrelevant laws in the State to improve the lives of the people.
He said, “The Governor is calm and intelligent, I implore the lawmakers to support his good intention and proposals.
