• Lawmakers Threaten To Reject Duo If Renominated •
Inside Oyo has exclusively gathered how the duo of Mudasiru Agbaje and Taiwo Adeleke were rejected by members of the local government and chieftaincy committee of the Oyo State House of Assembly.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi had forwarded the names of nominees, including Agbaje and Adeleke to the House for consideration as caretaker committee chairmen in all the council areas in the state.
Agbaje (Irepo LG) and Adeleke (Asabari LCDA) were rejected as they failed to impressed members of the screening committee, a source disclosed.
According to the source who preferred anonymity, Agbaje, who was said to be the ‘Chief of Staff’ to the immediate past caretaker chairman of his council, Yekinni Popoola, was said to have presented a primary school certificate with ‘failed’ written in front of all the subjects he offered, together with a NABTEB result. The obviously curious members of the committee were said to have questioned how he went on to obtain NABTEB result with such a primary school. A question which he Wass unable to answer.
Adeleke, on the hand, “came with a degree certificate but was unable to express himself. Apart from that, he was said to have been drunk before coming, as the way he used his fila (cap) revealed much…He was not coherent when he was questioned. He was quoted as saying: ‘ejowo, won fi ipo yi se Baba mi laanu ni o’ (my nomination is a way of rewarding my father, who has always been loyal to progressive cause), the source revealed.
The source added: “Knowing that the duo may not be confirmed, some powerful people appealed to some of the lawmakers but if fell on deaf ears as members of the Assembly were not prepared to do anything that may tarnish their integrity. The house later rejected the two nominees, advsing Ajimobi to renominate another persons to fill the void.
“Members of the Assembly were, however, shocked when they got information that the two rejected nominees were inaugurated, together with others, as caretaker chairmen. The lawmakers later invited some top government officials to explain their roles.”
Meanwhile, members of the Assembly have threatened that they will reject any move to make the House confirmed the two nominees, who have earlier been rejected.
Inside Oyo gathered that the names of the duo, together with Abiodun Oladeji, who was inaugurated instead of Akeem Aransi for Lagelu West LCDA, have been forwarded to the Assembly for reconfirmation.
