Ajimobi was quoted as assuring the party leadership on the efforts of his administration to ensure the conduct of the election into the 33 local government areas and the 35 local council development areas as soon as the current litigation impeding the exercise was resolved.

In a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Olawale Sadare, after the meeting held at the party secretariat at Oke-Ado, Ibadan, the APC said that the governor attended the Exco meeting in his capacity as the overall leader and a statutory member of the State Executive in the state.

“It may interest the people of the state, including members of our great party, that Gov. Abiola Ajimobi attended our State Executive meeting on Thursday and restated his commitment to the conduct of local government poll in the state as, according to him, efforts are being made to resolve the litigation over the implementation of the law establishing Local Council Development Areas.

“Meanwhile, we have had reports of some aspirants having challenges on how to approach the Party leadership for a possible refund of money paid at the time of build up to the conduct of the botched February 2017 council poll. As a Party which priorities transparency and fairness, we are more than ready to make refunds to willing aspirants and all they need do is to write an application to that effect and submit same to the State Secretariat.

“At the meeting, it was resolved that all aspirants eyeing various elective posts in 2019 should suspend actions regarding campaigns and mobilization as they must await directives from INEC or risk being sanctioned. In the same vein, those promoting groups and caucuses interest should desist from polarizing the party with their nefarious activities forthwith. This becomes imperative even as we would soon stage a carnival to welcome an unimaginable number of opposition leaders and their teeming supporters into our fold.

“In conclusion, we use this golden opportunity to appreciate Gov. Ajimobi, who doubles as the Leader of the APC in the state, for the donation of a brand new bus for the use of the Chief Akin Oke-led Executive Committee in addition to his ceaseless and passionate support to the Party in order to make it more virile for the 2019 general election.” The statement added.
