The Chairman-elect of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has called on leaders and members of the party to support members of the executive in its move to reconcile aggrieved members.
Omodewu in a statement on Sunday said APC can reclaim the state from the “present impostors and tenants at Agodi government house”.
He also promised to build on the solid foundation laid by the immediate past chairman, Papa Akin Oke.
The statement reads in full: “My Fellow Progressives and Comrades, I respectfully and most humbly appreciate you all for the confidence and trust you reposed in me yesterday, Saturday the 30th day of October, 2021 at our Papa Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke-Ado, Ibadan where you gave me the enormous responsibility of serving you as the Chairman of our great party , All Progressive Congress ( APC) . I am greatly humbled by the love , affection, trust and support you all exhibited and displayed towards me to assume that exalted office of our great party.
“On behalf of my other colleagues of the State Executive Committee that you have entrusted us with the running and management of the affairs of our great party yesterday, we are indeed very grateful to you all and we promise and undertake not to betray your trust and confidence. By the special grace of God and with your support, we shall not let you down.
“I want to place on record that we shall build on the solid foundation ably laid by our predecessors in office under our indefatigable leader, Papa Akin Oke who worked assiduously and toiled day and night throughout their tenure of office in sustaining the legacies of our heroes past and handing over to us a truly 21st century progessive party in Oyo that we are all proud of. Kudos to our Papa Akin Oke and his wonderful team for the excellent manners they have managed the affairs of our party over the years.
“My dear Progressives, I have always been a realist and a practical politician and in the light of this, I am not a person who will grandstand and be basking in euphoria of self conviction that all is well within our party when indeed the facts on ground are very obvious.
“Our party is presently at a crossroad and a very critical point. It is the common responsibility of all of us without exception to make or mar the present and even the future of our party. I have resolved and decided with the support of all the stakeholder and members of our great to make, develop, strengthen and increase considerably the fortunes of our great party in our dear Oyo State in particular and in Nigeria in general.
“Our executive Committee cannot do this great task alone without the support and cooperation of all of us in the party. I am therefore , sincerely and faithfully, appealing to all of you to please rally round us ,to join hands with us , to co-operate with us and to support us in uniting and bringing on board all the various interests, groups , fora and alignments within the party to enable us be on the same page to confront our common and known opposition in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
“I stand before you on this holy day to pledge before the most High God and man that our Executive Committee shall be guided by the principles of transparency,fairness, equity and justice in running the affairs of the party and please be rest assured that we shall run an open door policy and carry all the members of our party along in all our decisions.
“Our first and major assignment shall, by the grace of God, be to embark on the process of genuine reconciliation among our party leaders and members . In carrying out this onerous task, we shall be very sincere and open to all and accord all members and stakeholders of our great party a level playing ground . We crave your support and cooperation in achieving and realising cohesion and unity within our party.
“My fellow Progressives, I have no doubt that once we are able to resolve our internal differences and conflicts amicably, we are also simultaneously serving a quit notice to the present impostor and tenant occupying the government house at Agodi, Ibadan. For the overall interest and development of our dear pacesetter state and our people, we must close our ranks and truly unite to take our dear Oyo State back from the PDP misgovernance so that the labour of our forebears and heroes past shall not be in vain .
