The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Oyo State Chapter, has urged the new Governor of the state, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to sustain and improve on the programmes and projects of the outgone government led by Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, while executing his own vision for the citizens of the state.
In a press statement signed by the ALGON Chairman in the state, Prince Ayodeji Abass -Aleshinloye and made available to Newspeak online on Tuesday evening, the association lauded the contributions and the “indelible achievements” of the Ajimobi administration in the areas of “sustained peace and security, education, human capacity development, health, road, agriculture and food security, improved social infrastructure, community development among others.”
The association commended the existing cordiality, mutual maturity and peaceful transition between the outgone and the new governments in the state, adding that the interests of Oyo State is paramount over any other partisan considerations for sustainable peace and development.
“We, the elected local government chairmen and councilors under ALGON Oyo State, as grassroots leaders will continue to promote this cordiality, sustained peace, democracy and purposeful governance throughout our legitimate tenure at the grassroots level for people – focus sustainable development,” the statement read.
The association congratulated the new governor on his resumption in office and assured him of its “ cooperation and grassroots support to move the state forward to the next level of sustainable security, peaceful coexistence and socio – economic development more than the state has witnessed in the past eight years.”
“Together we shall work assiduously with the new government and the entire citizenry to make this feat possible in the overall collective interest of our people and Oyo, the pacesetter state,” the statement added.
