The Caretaker Committee of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Oyo State was yesterday inaugurated by the National Secretary of the party, Pastor Akin Fasogbon, with a charge to the new leaders to organize credible congresses.
Fasogbon, who was accompanied by the Ondo State chairman of the party, Mr Adebobola Seriki, urged members of the committee to be open-minded and ensure that the party remains united in the state.
The political leader stated that the caretaker committee was the recognized leadership of the AD in the state. But he advised the committee to reconcile aggrieved members and also woo more members to the party.
Members of the committee include Elder Akin Alamu (chairman), Mr Bayo Badmos (secretary), Mrs Aduke Akande (Women Leader) and Hon. Oriade Solomon. Fasogbon tasked the committee organize the ward, local government and state congresses of the party scheduled to commence July 17, 2018.
According to Fasogbon, the AD is a strong and indivisible party under its National Chairman, Chief Joseph Avazi. He added that the Akin Alamu-led caretaker committee had to be inaugurated in order for the party to make head way in the state.
The national secretary, who assured members of the party that time had come for the AD to reclaim the state, commended a former Minority Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Babatunde Oduyoye and other leaders for the roles they played in making sure that the party remained active.
