Akinwale Omololu Laosun (JP) has been declared as the governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), in Oyo State for the 2019 elections.
Laosun emerged unopposed during the party’s gubernatorial primaries, which was held at Rasco building, Orita Challenge, Ibadan, on Saturday, September, 22.
At the event, the state chairman of the party, Ogunlana Rotimi, said Laosun had complied with the extant electoral laws in ensuring his emergence as the party’s standard-bearer.
Ogunlana said the party, a brainchild of the political activist and media guru, Omoyele Sowore, is a metamorphosis of a popular movement called ‘Take Back Nigeria Movement.’
He said the ‘Take it back’ slogan of the party stands for redemption of all common wealth and value plundered by the criminal political leaders, explaining that if the party’s standard-bearer is elected into power in 2019, the AAC government would bring back smiles to the faces of the people in the state.
In his speech, the party’s standard-bearer in the gubernatorial election, Mr Laosun said education would be the major focus of the AAC government.
He added that youth employment would also be given adequate attention if elected into power.
He also promised to focus on small businesses and making the state the food basket of Nigeria, while tackling the challenges of non-payment of workers’ salaries.
