The management of Gas Land Nigeria Limited has reacted to a news in an online medium that the company is planning to site a gas plant within Aerodrome Estate, Samonda in Ibadan saying the site is on a commercial plot and not within any residential estate.
The management in a press statement made available to newsmen on Friday urged the Oyo state government and the people of the state not to be deceived by the lies and misinformation.
Describing the news as capable of portraying their company as insensitive to the feelings, the management said they are not unmindful of the underground moves by the proprietor of a Gas Company who is a member of Aerodrome Estate to instigate some unsuspecting members of the Estate against their company and project after he failed to persuade them to sell the land to him to build his own gas plant.
The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to the above story in an online medium concerning our site project along Oyo Road, Samonda, Ibadan , Oyo State which is totally misleading and capable of portraying our company as insensitive to the feelings of the people that our company is reputed for serving responsibly over the years.
“We wish to inform the general public that our site in question is not situated within the Aerodrome Estate, Samonda, Ibadan. Rather , the site is along the Sango- U.I road also known as Oyo Road, Ibadan.
“The Site is on a commercial plot and not within any residential estate as falsely stated in the press release. In actual fact, the plot was designated on the Oyo State maasterplan for the construction of NNPC Mega Station/ LPG Gas Plant
“We secured all necessary and statutory approvals from all the agencies of the Federal and State Governments and these include approvals from (i) the Oyo State Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning (ii) the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), (iii) Federal Ministry of Environment (iv) the State and Federal Fire Services , ( v) Federal Highway Services etc
“We are not unmindful of the underground moves by the proprietor of a Gas Company who is a member of Aerodrome Estate to instigate some unsuspecting members of the Estate against our company and project after he failed to persuade us to sell the land to him to build his own gas plant.
“Gasland has been in this business for over 26 years and we are too experience on the job not to know where to site a gas plant to ensure the safety of lives and property.
“To the glory of God, none of our gas plants operating all over the country including Oyo State has ever recorded any unfortunate incident including fire.
“Safety of lives and properties are our main properties and we can never sacrifice this core value of ours for anything.
“We are therefore appealing to the Oyo State Government and the people of Oyo State not to be deceived by the lies and misinformation contained in the said press release.”
