…Says “The End Has Come For Criminals”
A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, who represents Ibadan South East Constituency II, Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige has explained that with the inauguration and reinvigoration of the Operation Burst by Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the government has further demonstrated his commitment to nipping the security challenges in the bud.
The lawmaker, who was a chairman of Ibadan South East local government, stressed that the relaunch has signalled the end of the road for rampaging miscreants, armed robbers burglars, brigands, and those who are involved in spilling of blood, rape and perpetrations of violence in the state.”
Ajimobi had last week inaugurated the rebranded Joint Security Task Force ‘Operation Burst’ in Idi-Arere, one of the hotbeds of violence in the state.
He also inaugurated the new Board of Trustees for the State’s Security Trust Fund headed by the Deputy Governor, Operations of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Oloye Bayo Adelabu Ige tasked men of the security outfit to ensure total eradication of all forms of brigandage, armed robbery and other violent activities that were hithereto rampant in some parts of the state.
This is just as he equally commended the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Barr. Adesina Michael Adeyemo and other members in the House for amending the Trust Fund Bill which had paved the way for private sectors involvement towards the sustenance of peace in the State.
He expressed happiness that the action by the government came barely two months after he moved a motion on the floor of the House on the need to put an end to the incessant night robbery attacks on innocent citizens within Ibadan metropolis when the rate of robbery attacks on innocent citizens of the State particularly in Ibadan South East Constituency became high and residents in this locality were having sleepless nights as a result of the activities of these marauders.
He recalled with sadness how the activities of “these criminally-minded people in the last one and half years in the state had claimed the lives of many citizens including one of his colleagues, Hon. Gideon Aremu, the chairman House committee on Security, who was gruesomely assassinated in front of his house; night guards, police officer and other innocent citizens at Ibuko (IMG school), Molusi, Olorunsogo, Molete, Keshinro, Onigari, Adeyemo,Eyin Grammar, Odinjo, Academy, Odo Oba, Aperin Oniyere, Kudeti, Yejide, Felele axis and so on, while other people were equally dispossessed of their valuable belongings and property worth millions of naira.”
He advised members of the Board of Trustees of Security Trust Fund to use their contacts, connections and wealth of experience to raise funds for government in order to ensure the success and sustenance of peace and crime free society in the State.
