Hon. Wasiu Adewale Babatunde (Adua), the Vice Chairman of Oorelope Local Government, on Monday carried out a wide-ranging empowerment programme across the local government area, with beneficiaries drawn from all ten wards.
The empowerment exercise took place in Oorelope Local Government area of Oyo state.
The Vice Chairman allocated funds to the ten Ward PDP Members and the Binukonu Food Stuff Dealer Association in Oorelope, distributing 500,000 naira, and separately gave 100,000 naira to the ten PDP Ward Chairmen.
The intervention was aimed at supporting grassroots traders and easing the economic pressures faced by small-scale foodstuff dealers.
Speaking during the empowerment exercise, Hon. Babatunde said the initiative was driven by his passion for grassroots development and inclusive leadership.
“This empowerment programme is about putting resources directly into the hands of our people. When our traders are empowered, the local economy grows, and when our party leaders are supported, grassroots mobilisation becomes stronger and more effective,” he said.
He added that the programme was designed to complement the developmental efforts of the local government.
“We understand the economic realities our people are facing, and this intervention is a deliberate effort to ease those challenges and help our traders expand their businesses across all ten wards,” Hon. Babatunde stated.
On the support given to PDP ward chairmen, the Vice Chairman noted that strong party structures were essential for good governance.
“Our ward chairmen are the backbone of the party at the grassroots. Supporting them is part of our commitment to unity, loyalty and effective political organisation in Oorelope Local Government,” he added.
