Oyo state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has presented staff of office and certificate to the 21st Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye.
Governor Makinde shortly before presenting the staff of office, described the new soun as a visional leader, an entrepreneur and motivational speaker who has the capacity to take Ogbomoso land to the next level of development.
The governor further charged the new Soun to use his wealth of experience, exposure and ingenuity to further enhance infrastructural development of the town.
In his goodwill message, Nigeria’s former vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo described Oba Olaoye as a friend who always speak the truth even when it was not convenient for people around him.
The vice president further congratulated him and the people of Ogbomoso for having people like him as the king
Reacting, Oba Olaoye called on all and sundry to support his vision of taking Ogbomoso to the promise land, promising to dwell on notable developmental projects that will make life meaningful to all
He said he had come serve the people irrespective of religion and tribal difference.
Present at the event were the immediate past Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of Nigeria (SGF) George Akume, represented, former military governor of Oyo state, General Oladayo Popoola (rtd.).
Some of the royal fathers present were the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Olu of Warri, Oba Ogiame Atuwatse and other royal fathers.
Also present were members of the National Assembly from Oyo state, Oyo state executive council members, present and past Oyo state House of Assembly members, captains of industry, and others.
