The Chairman, Onipako ruling houses, Pa. Adekunle Fasasi and other representatives have condemned a viral news report sponsored by Ibarapa Central Local Government Chairman, Hon. Sola Adeleke, using a former Oyo State Commissioner for Chieftaincy, Chief Oje Morakinyo and some individuals, alleging them of falsifying their identity and misrepresenting the community’s customs and traditions.
In a statement signed by the Chairman and some representatives, the Pako Ruling Houses accused Chief Oje Morakinyo of using his influence to destabilize Pako through false claims and warned that the actions of Hon. Sola Adeleke and Chief Oje Morakinyo could lead to crisis if not addressed by the Oyo State Government.
The release read: “We, the representatives of Onipako of Pako ruling Houses under the umbrella of ‘PAKO RULING HOUSES’ condemn some viral news sponsored by the Ibarapa Central Local Government Chairman, Hon. Sola Adeleke, where some individuals under our identity as representatives of PAKO RULING HOUSES falsified our identity, custom and tradition to mislead the public. We challenge Chief Oje Morakinyo, whom unfortunately spending his old age with falsehood to distabilise PAKO through his maternal link.
“We are highly disappointed by reports credited to Chief Oje Morakinyo whom during his tenure as Commissioner for Local Chieftaincy in Oyo State is never known to us as a member of the rulling house nor in any way contributed to the development of Pako. Even if rulling houses considers any slot from Omoni ruling house, Onigilakala maternal section of Chief Oje Morakinyo is not qualified to ascend the throne, but Atobiiporo section. It is saddened seeing personalities like him falsifying our custom for selfish interest.
” Pako is an historical town in Yoruba land, founded around 1600, and not 1860 as claimed. Pako in the history of Yorubas by Samuel Jonson survived several Inter-tribal wars like Batedo war, Adubi, Fulani, Agidi War, Ibariba war and later the Dahormey war, Batedo war, Darhormey war, Agidi war etc. which occurred before their 1860 claim. Customarily in aggregate, 4 rulling houses have been rulling the community since inception: (Olugbile/Idowu Okuromade, Omoni, Ajuwon and Tubi). These are confirmed in Archival records during the reign of Late Kabiesi Ogundoyin, and Installation program of Late Kabiesi Alli Ajibade, both from Ajuon ruling house. We challenge them to provide any evidence that removed a particular ruling house since inception.
“The self acclaimed rotational order dated 21/5/76, being paraded by him to destabilize us, was outrightly rejected by the competent Law Courts (suit No: 1/46/88. and CA.1/146/92) stands “Illegal” and therefore should never be used for the case of natural justice.”
They affirm that matters on nomination process concerning ruling houses has ended in line with the directives of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy effective from the circular letter CB.141/175/18.VOL.IT/123 through the directive No IBCLG/123/I/E.VOL.III/178, and further urged the Chairman, Ibarapa Central Local Government, Hon. Sola Adeleke to cease using his personal relationship with Chief Oje Morakinyo, the minority section leader to rubbish our tradition as being maintained by the Kingmakers.
The statement alleged the council boss acting as umpire and player; and urged him to forward the nomination of Prince Wahab Shittu Olasunkanmi, selected by 9 Chiefs out of 12 Kingmakers on 10th December 2025 in compliance with Oyo State Government directive via Ref no: CB.141/175/18Vol.III/179 as the Onipako of Pako to His Excellency, Eng. Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State for approval.
They submitted that the intimidating attitude of Hon. Sola Adeleke on influence of Chief Oje Morakinyo who was never known as an indigene of Pako Community may lead to crisis and anarchy if not curtail by Oyo State Government.
