The Ona-Ara Development Forum, has showered encomiums on Oyo State Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde over his government’s decision to reconstruct the Ibadan-Akanran-Ijebu Igbo Road.
The Forum which is an umbrella organization of all indigenes of Ona Ara Local Government and Inukan Local Council Development Area, LCDA at home and in the diaspora expressed its appreciation on Tuesday during its monthly general meeting in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Briefing members on the commencement of work on the road project, the President of the Forum, Alhaji Kola Bolomope recalled the various efforts of the community to successive governments, State and Federal, in the past on the poor state of the road which yielded no result.
He said that it was therefore a dream come through when contractors moved to site last week and started demolition of structures along the road.
According to Alhaji Bolomope information available indicated that the road which connect Oyo to Ogun state will be dualized from Olorunsogo to Ariyo while the rest from Ariyo to Ogun State boundary will be a standard one-lane road.
He said that members of the Forum from various communities in Ona-Ara at the meeting could not hide their joy as they burst into songs of praises for Governor Seyi Makinde..
He added that to many of them, the road reconstruction is the greatest dividend of democracy to the people of Ona-Ara. This according to them is because the poor state of the road over the years had done great damage to the social/economic development of the area which will now be reversed with the road reconstruction.
Special prayers were offered for the success of the Oyo State administration and divine guidance to the Governor for a successful tenure.
