Former Secretaries to the Oyo State government, and leaders of the Oyo State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Layiwola Olakojo, Dr Busari Adebisi and Chief Michael Koleosho, on Thursday, in Ibadan, expressed satisfaction with the campaign style of Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, concluding that with the current trend of things, and the form the campaign was taking, it was now evident that Lanlehin is the governor in waiting, and that only in a matter of months, the people’s mandate will be bestowed on him.
In a review meeting at the residence of Chief Olakojo, the leaders said that with the enthusiasm displayed by Oyo State people, across the 33 local governments of Oyo State, especially during the just concluded tour of the ten local governments of Oke-Ogun, it was now evident that the wide acceptance of the ADC, and Lanlehin, was indisputable.
“Our people have shown that ADC is their preferred party, and Lanlehin, their preferred candidate. All we need to do now, is to monitor and protect our votes to ensure our mandate is not stolen,” Chief Olakojo said.
Recall that Lanlehin just concluded a tour of local governments in Oke-Ogun, wherein he met with stakeholders, interest groups, traditional institutions and many more, who all expressed readiness to assist him birth his pro-people government, and turnaround the fortunes of the state. He also held open air campaigns in designated locations in the local governments.
That Oke-Ogun tour, is sequel to those already held in Surulere/Ogooluwa, Afijio, Akinyele/Lagelu, Oluyole, as well as the zonal rallies concluded in the five zones of the state.
“Our party is the people’s choice, we know that because we’re experiencing it firsthand. You needed to see the warmth, love and enthusiasm we were shown in the places visited. From Iseyin Federal Constituency to Saki East/West and Atisbo, as well as Oorelope/Irepo/Olorunsogo, the reception was massive,” Lanlehin said.
The only sore point in the campaign, Lanlehin noted, was the current state of disrepair of Oke-Ogun roads.
“Nearly all the roads, if not all, are in a state of disrepair, and one can only feel the pains of the people of those parts. We have promised them that our government will fix all those roads using local contractors who will then employ local artisans. That way, prosperity can be shared,” Lanlehin said. “Oyo money must remain in Oyo State,” he emphasized.
The Oyo State ADC governorship candidate assured the Oke-Ogun people, and indeed, the whole of Oyo State, that having served in previous capacities, and delivered to the best of his abilities, albeit modestly, he is sure to deliver even more, and affect the people’s lives positively.
“Our people’s needs aren’t so difficult to meet, what is essential is government’s political will, and sincerity of the man in charge. Those two, I must say I possess,” Lanlehin said.
Dr Adebisi and Chief Koleosho, in separate remarks, lauded Lanlehin for his gentlemanly disposition, and what they termed “humaneness, and people oriented leaning.”
With Lanlehin in government, the duo agreed that Oyo State was in for good times.
