Chairmen of the 10 local governments and Local Council Development Authority (LCDAs) in Oke-Ogun, Oyo State, have accused the Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, of causing tension and disaffection in the state All Progressives Congress, APC.
They said the minister’s actions “are injurious to the success of the party”.
Shittu, who hails from Saki West local government of Oke-Ogun in Oyo State had, in a petition to President Muhammadu Buhari, alleged Governor Abiola Ajimobi of demolishing his Computer Base Test centre among other offences.
The chairmen noted that contrary to Shittu’s claim in a petition to the national leadership of the party that the fortunes of the party “has nose-dived,” they said APC, under the leadership of Governor Abiola Ajimobi “has continued to wax stronger and has become the only hope for the masses in the state as a result of the visionary leadership provided by the governor”.
In a statement by the caretaker chairmen of Iwa LCDA and Oorelope Local Government Area, Sulaimon Ajani and Okunlade Samuel, for others, the chairmen said Shittu’s actions and utterances had been generating undue tension and promoting bitterness within Oyo APC.
They noted that “the minister’s actions, rather than the governor’s, have, indeed, been destroying the APC.”
They added: “We, the chairmen of the 10 local governments in Oke-Ogun, which Alhaji Adebayo Shittu hailed from, have watched with bewilderment the unguarded utterances and negative tendencies of the minister in unnecessarily opposing the governor and the progress of the party.
“We would not have joined issues with the minister for his baseless and apparently false claim that the governor has been creating divisions in the APC and destroying the party, but there is need to set the record straight so that the national leadership of the party will know that it is the minister who has been disrupting the peace in the party with his actions and utterances.
