A total of 3,712 Corps members who had completed their one- year mandatory service in Oyo state were this morning passed out at the Lekan Salami stadium Adamasingba, Ibadan.
The Corps members comprising 1, 694 males and 2,018 females were posted to Oyo state in 2019 for their primary assignment.
Addressing the gathering, the Oyo state coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mrs. Grace Ogbuogebe urged the Corp members to leverage on the skills acquired during the service year to develop their full potentials.
Mrs. Ogbuogebe urged them not to be deterred by the socio-economic challenges in the country, but continue to explore opportunities to fulfil their goals.
Declaring the passing out parade closed, the Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde represented by the state Commissioner of Youth and Sports Mr. Seun Fakorede commended the Corp members for their immense contribution to the development of the state.
The governor who admonished the Corp members to uphold the ideals of NYSC in their next phase of life implored them to be creative and utilize the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED scheme of the NYSC to become job creators.
Some of the corp members expressed optimism of becoming job creators rather than being job seekers.
Aside from the cultural troop that entertained guest, the event also saw four outstanding corp members being given an award for their outstanding performance during the service year.
