Crown FC of Ogbomoso seem to have waved behind them their 1 – 0 defeat to Shooting Stars of Ibadan at the Oyo State FA cup final on Sunday as they played out 1 -1 draw away with Word of Light Football club at the Oghara Township Stadium, Delta State on Wednesday.
The Ogbomoso based club extended their lead and which brightened their hope of promotion in the Nigeria National League (NNL) group B4 southern conference as they top the group with 4 points and 2 goals advantage ahead of their closest rival Word of Light FC.
Adeyemi Adeyeye shots into the net with an assist by Chibuike Nwankwo gave the visitors the lead at 47th minute after his early goal in the nineth (9th) minute from Rhiogbere Tejiri’s blunder was denied by the centre referee but John Sunday equalised for the homers in the 59th minute as the match ended in a draw.
The match was marred by an unprofessional act on the part of the officials as Ozichi Chibueze for Word Of Life FC was issued two (2) yellow cards in the game instead of a red card after committing the second bookable offence.
Oladunni Oyekale, Crown FC’s coach while addressing newsmen after the encounter appreciated God for the outcome of the game. “I thank my boys for putting up a good fight though I expected a win. Very painful. We will go home and restrategies ahead of our next home game”.
