The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state, Senator Teslim Folarin, has urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in promoting peace and unity across the nation irrespective of their ethnic and religious differences.
Senator Folarin stated this in his Independence Day message to Nigerians on the occasion of the nation’s 62nd independence celebration.
In a statement released by his media aide, Com. YSO Olaniyi, the Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content said that Nigeria will attain legendary status and global recognition in economic growth and development if the nation can harness the abundant resources, innovation and talents of its diverse population.
According to the 2023 leading governorship candidate in Oyo State, “We must regard our socio-cultural diversity as a unique strength that is capable of accelerating economic growth as well as advancements in education, science, technology, entertainment and sports development. We must shun bigoted views and divisive tendencies to avoid inciting hate, discrimination, hostility and violence.”
Folarin, in the statement, lauded the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for the modest achievements it has been able to record, despite the challenges besetting the nation.
He also charged voters to exclusively support leaders who are committed to good governance and nation-building, stating that the 2023 elections would present another chance for Nigerians to freely choose the right candidates for leadership positions.
“With the incoming government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, by the grace of Almighty Allah, Nigerians are assured of accelerated progress, unhindered development and massive improvements in their socioeconomic status.
“Asiwaju’s track record of excellence as the initiator of groundbreaking developmental projects in Lagos State, which has made that state Nigeria’s best-managed, will surely be translated to the management of the affairs of the country once he takes over,” the Oyo Central Senator said.
“With the upward trend in infrastructural development across the country, I opine that better days are indeed on the horizon, and that with patience, loyalty and patriotism, Nigerians will reap the benefits of good governance in the long run” he concluded.
