In a New Year message sent electronically on Sunday, Abidikugu, a Nigerian UK based medical consultant, said there was the need for fervent prayers for peace, security, unity and stability of the country by remaining steadfast in their prays as the new year, 2023 begins, which is elections year.
He tasked all Nigerians and Oyo state in particular to seize the opportunity of new year celebration to rededicate themselves and inject the healing and unifying spirit of love for their neighbours into the nation’s consciousness this season.
Abidikugu, who is also the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DAKA Foundation implored Nigerians as a whole to continue praying for the unity and peaceful coexistence of the nation.
According to him, “Our greatest strength as Nigerians lies in our fortitude and our ability to come together to achieve grand visions despite our differences. This moment in our history requires embracing these strengths more than ever. In the new year, let us focus on the things that bring us together.
“As a nation, we can achieve more if we stay united, extend hands of fellowship to one another and be law abiding. We must also rededicate ourselves to the virtues of faith in God, love for one another and make these virtues more evident and practical in our daily living.
“As the New Year begins, we should uphold the virtues of love, selflessness and tolerance so that we can solidify the unity of Nigeria. I call on all Nigerians to love one another, it was not by our power, to see the beginning of the New Year but by Almighty God, and for this reason, we should do away with any act that can cause disaffection among one another”.
