Dear Governor Seyi Makinde,
Permit me His Excellency to express my concerns to you on the ongoing pandemic “COVID 19” and your policy action so far to halt the spread of this viral disease.
I have been a keen follower of your governance style since you were sworn in as Pace Setter’s number one citizen and I must be frank with you His Excellency, you started well and your beginning was impressive even though many still believe all these strides are mere “audio”.
Mr. Governor sir, let me digress briefly, I read you have sacked my e-friend, your former Special Assistant on Digital Media for the media communications gaffe he made spreading fake news like Corona Virus on a project your colleague, His Excellency, Babajide Sanwolu did but which Adigun published it was yours.
In the first case sir, you are to be blamed. The moment sometimes in February 2020 you announced Adigun as your Special Assistant on Digital Media, I felt highly disappointed that you did appoint a misfit to such a sensitive position.
To be sincere, Adigun would have fitted in perfectly in other positions far away from media communications or any office that is visible or requires writing or speaking Turanshi or that involves PR. And as a good friend that I am and a professional PR, I reached out to your ex-aide Adigun to help him succeed in his new role on pro bono but ego, ignorance, and over-confidence would not allow him to tap my resourcefulness.
It is painful that he reached me rather too late until this morning, begging to come up with a damage control strategy for the nonsense he posted online. Mr. Governor sir, we know you wanted to compensate your boys, but please compensate them with positions that they have skills, experience, and capabilities to handle not strategic offices that can cost you your image and make you be called an “Audio Governor.”
We have young, smart and professional PR/Media Communications experts that are from Oyo State in abundance, I am one, my friend and brother Olutayo irantiola is another good guy who can handle such strategic position to your delight.
Now His Excellency sir, back to the crux of the matter. As a concerned citizen of PaceSetter state, we want you to take more proactive steps. Start building conducive isolation centres across the state before the situation escalates.
Sir, reach out to proximate private economic actors for help, you have that network advantage, sir use it. Mr. Governor, we want you to be more audible, don’t mind those who call you “audio governor”, have periodic updates, constitute a crisis communications team and be proactive by sponsoring a COVID-19 Emergency Bill now to have legal backing for your actions.
The time is challenging but inherent in it is a great opportunity for you to shine and prove to everyone that you are not an audio governor but a performing state actor.
Yours truly,
Femi Ojo
