A son of Chief MKO Abiola, Abdul Mumuni, on Saturday, told the Aare Ona Kakanfo-designate of Yoruba land and leader of the Oodua Peoples Congress, Gani Adams, to be focused on promoting the culture and defending the cause of the Yoruba race.
The young Abiola told PUNCH that his father, who was the previous Aare Ona Kakanfo until his death, was vilified by people who did not consider him fit as the Yoruba generalissimo.
He, therefore, urged the leader of the OPC to be strong in view of the challenges ahead of him.
He added, “The wisdom of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who installed the late Chief MKO Abiola, which was opposed by some, citing my father’s flamboyant nature, I believe was vindicated in his decision through my father’s actions.
“You’re most deserving of this esteemed title and I pray that Allah should protect and grant you the fortitude to bear the responsibilities and sacrifices that this title imposes on the bearer. I congratulate the OPC National Leader, Otunba Gani Adams, on his emergence as the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land. I hope that your emergence will bring unity, cohesion, end the strife among the Yoruba, and forge a new path for the nation.”
