The wife of the Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde has urged women to embrace periodic medical check up and physical exercise.
According to the Nation, Mrs Makinde made the remark during the ‘Walk for Fitness’ organized by Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Oyo State Women Chapter to commemorate the year 2020 International Women’s Day with the theme “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights.”
Addressing the women, the Governor’s wife said exercise has many health benefits such as protection of joints, knees and hips as well as lowering of blood sugar.
She urged women to embrace periodic medical health check ups like breast examination, blood level, blood pressure among others to know their health status.
Mrs. Makinde reiterated that the present administration in the state is committed to the welfare and wellbeing of women and children regardless of their social status.
Also speaking, the wife of the Deputy Governor, Dr Bolanle Olaniyan, urged women to take the education of their children seriously, stressing that education is the bedrock of development.
In her own words, the lyaloja of Bodija Market, Chief Mrs. Victoria Onipede appreciated the present admistration for the various women friendly programmes and policies.
Other top government functionaries who accompanied the Governors wife include, the Head of Service, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Permanent Secretary and the women wing of the NLC and TUC.
