The national working committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Wednesday, inaugurated its campaign council for the Osun state governorship election.
The election is scheduled to take place on July 16. Ademola Adeleke, a former senator, is the party’s governorship candidate.
The PDP had named Douye Diri, governor of Bayelsa, as chairman of the committee leaving Governor Seyi Makinde the only PDP Governor in Southwest.
According to the Cable, Seyi Makinde of Oyo; Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto; Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia; Nyesom Wike of Rivers; Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom; Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu; Bala Mohammed of Bauchi; Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa; Godwin Obaseki of Edo, and Samuel Ortom of Benue were appointed as vice-chairmen.
But they were all absent from the inauguration, including Diri.
Insideoyo.com gathered that Makinde is presently in Israel.
He made this known in a post on his social media platforms.
It read: “This afternoon, as part of our visit to Israel to meet investors and institutions that have shown interest in Oyo State’s agribusiness policies, we signed an agreement of cooperation with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem to develop an agribusiness knowledge economy.
“The partnership includes scholarship offers, knowledge transfer and exchange programs between the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Oyo State owned Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).
“We also met with Oyo State students at the university.
“During the course of our stay in Israel, we have visited 2 kibbutzes (farm settlements) – a dairy farm and another farm which produces lettuce and fish, to see agritech deployment in modern agribusinesses.
“Those who were present at the event include Ifeanyi Okowa, PDP vice-presidential candidate; Darius Ishaku, governor of Taraba, and other NWC members.”
