Governor Seyi Makinde on Wednesday visited the Ibadan Central Abattoir in Amosun Village.
The governor said the visit was to so an on-the-spot assessment of the Centre.
He promised to invite all stakeholders to a roundtable in order to resolve the crisis plaguing the Oyo State Butchers’ Association.
“I promised to summon all stakeholders involved in the establishment of the abattoir to a round table discussion to resolve the issues plaguing the Oyo State Butchers’ Association.
“I also urged butchers operating at the abattoir to cooperate with the investor and developer, Ahmadu Kehinde in order to encourage more private sector investors to partner with the state on various projects,” the governor stated in a series of tweets seen by InsideOyo.com.
Insideoyo recalls that the movement of Ibadan abattoirs to a central location at Amosun Village caused rancour between the then Ajimobi-led government and butchers in the state, resulting into loss of lives and properties.
It is not yet clear if what Governor Seyi Makinde will do concerning the issues. The people of Amosun have also cried on several occasions for basic amenities and adequate compensation their farmland now turned into an abattoir centre.
