A supplementary appropriation bill totalling ₦270,854,500,000 for the 2025 fiscal year,before the Oyo State House of Assembly has scaled through its first reading on Wednesday.
The Bill, it was gathered aimed at addressing critical funding gaps in both recurrent and capital expenditure for the state.
The bill, titled “A Bill for the Supplementary Budget of Two Hundred and Seventy Billion, Eight Hundred and Fifty-Four Million, Five Hundred Naira (₦270,854,500,000.00) Being the Recurrent and Capital Expenditure for the Services of Oyo State of Nigeria in the Year Ending on the 31st Day of December, 2025”, was formally introduced by Leader of the Majority of the House, Honorable Sanjo Adedoyin representing Ogbomoso South state constituency.
According to the provisions of the bill, the entire sum will be sourced from the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the state and will be expended within the current fiscal year, ending December 31, 2025.
The appropriation will cover adjustments in ongoing government programmes and new expenditure demands not initially captured in the original 2025 budget.
A key section of the bill reads: “The sum of Two Hundred and Seventy Billion, Eight Hundred and Fifty-Four Million, Five Hundred Naira (₦270,854,500,000.00) only shall be appropriated from the Consolidated Revenue Fund during the year ending on the 31st day of December, 2025 for the services set out in the 1st Schedule to this Law.”
“The Bill, when passed, will reinforce the state government’s commitment to ensure efficient public service delivery, infrastructural expansion, and improved socio-economic interventions across sectors”, a part of the bill reads.
