Incoming governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde on Sunday met with the leadersof the Bola Ige International Market, Gbagi.
The meeting, InsideOyo.com gathered was part of familirisation visit and how to increase the State’s tax net as promised during Makinde’s campaign time.
In a social media post seen by InsideOyo.com, Makinde said the meeting is important to ensure that the informal sectors are incentivised to be on the tax register.
“In my manifesto, I promised to grow IGR by broadening the existing tax base instead of increasing the tax rate. Thus, it is important that those who informally contribute to our economy, like the traders at the Bola Ige Intl Mkt, Gbagi, are incentivised to be on the tax register.
“To this end, I was happy to meet with Executives of the market to discuss the way forward for the market and our beloved Oyo State.”
The incoming governor who will man the leadership of the state on May 29, said he is ready to steer the affairs.
